So, as we venture into free agency, a few things to remember:
1. Free agency will be conducted through the forum. To create a bid for a player you should start a thread with the players name as the title. In the comments area write the salary you are offering, the number of years and the point total.
a. For example: $250,000 x 3 years = 3.25.
2. If another GM wants to bid on this player they must reply to the thread with their offer.
3. Once a bid has been on the board for 24 hours without being increased by another bid, it is considered successful and will be moved to the Approved Signings folder. At that point, please add the player to your Yahoo! team.
4. The maximum number of years a free agent can be signed for is 4. The minimum is 1. There are no option years for free agents.
a. The minimum salary is $250,000. There is no maximum.
b. Points are as follows: 1 point per $1,000,000. 1 point per year. An offer of $1,000,000 for 1 year = 2 points. An offer of $500,000 for 4 years = 4.5 points.
c. You MUST include the point total of your bid for it to be considered valid. If the point total does not match up with the offer, the bid is invalid.
d. The minimum bid increase is 0.2 points. There is no maximum.
5. A team has 30 minutes to withdraw a bid. If the bid is withdrawn in this time frame, it is treated as if it never happened which means that the previous high bid is once again the high bid.
6. If a potential bid puts you over the roster limit, it is invalid.
7. If a potential bid puts you over the salary cap, it is invalid.
8. Matty has created an additional section on the spread sheet, just to the right of your roster, with your available salary cap and roster spaces. When you bid on the forum please copy your bid, both player and salary offered, onto the spread sheet to help keep track of your roster spaces and cap.
9. PENALTY: It is extremely important that GMs do NOT go over the roster limit or salary cap. We will be adding 96 players during this process. In order to ensure GMs properly consider their own teams, we are instituting a penalty for GMs who violate the roster limit OR salary cap. The first violation will be 250,000 in 2018 salary; the second will be 500,000 in 2018 salary, and so on. If you use the spread sheet, there is no excuse for going over.
a. Remember: You may have several active bids going on at any one time. If you have 5 open roster spots, you are permitted to have 5 high bids on any free agent. You are NOT permitted to have more than 5 high bids.
b. Remember: You may never exceed the salary cap. All of your active bids must fall within the salary cap.
c. Any questions, call Mark Melican at any time of the night. He loves when you call.
