Ingersoll Blue Bombers would like to offer Pascal Siakam a 4 year contract with a team option for the 5th year at $14,000,000 per year.
Siakam lead his team in the 2019-20 season for the most part, but took a step back in the bubble and in the playoffs. This may be a cause for concern, but we believe this was because teams focused on him specifically a lot more. He averaged just 16.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 18 games in the Bubble. Siakam has a lot of work to do still in order to become a premier power forward in this league. We do feel like he has the tools to become that, but right now he is in that second tier of players. His upside is why we offered him a bit more than Harris and Middleton. We find Siakam’s best player comp right now is Ingram who has almost identical stats, is also young and has a positive upside. That is why we offered him the same amount
.
We took a look at other second tier players and players with similar positions and numbers in order to come up with our offer.
Player Salary PPG RPG APG SPG BPG T/O FG% 3PM FT%
Pascal Siakam 22.9 7.3 3.5 1.0 0.9 2.5 49 2.2 79.2
Tobias Harris 13,000,000 19.6 6.9 3.2 0.7 0.6 1.4 47.1 1.8 80.6
Middleton 13,000,000 20.9 6.2 4.3 0.9 0.1 2.2 54.6 2.4 91.6
Brendan Ingram 14,000,000 23.8 6.1 4.2 1.0 0.6 3.0 50.1 2.4 85.1
Kristaps Porzingis 16,000,000 20.4 9.5 1.8 0.7 2.0 1.6 48.4 2.5 79.9
As you can see the offer is right in line with others, except for Porzingis, who would be a top tier power forward (looking at the stats when he plays), but is always hurt, which is why his salary reflects that and is a bit higher, but much lower than it should be.
