Can draft picks that are involved in trades be protected? For up to 3 years?
So, let's say I trade a 1st round pick but want to protect it for the first 2 years. Is that possible?

Yes, they can. Any possible scenarios that can be covered in the NBA can be done here. You can add protections and even change the protection from year to year up to three years but they have to be noted in the trade and on your team page so they can be tracked.

And of course your trading partner has to agree to the protection to have a deal.

Hello Matt, Of course you can protect it but your trading partner would need to agree to have a deal. So you are suggesting for example; Top 5 (2019 & 2020) Top 10 (2021) This is fine as long as the protections sought are clear and agreeable by your trading partner(s).
